New Vs. Used Saxophone For Beginners

New Vs. Used Saxophone For Beginners

If you have decided to start playing the saxophone then you should congratulate yourself for making a great instrument choice. Saxophones are really great instruments that don’t often get the credit they deserve.

new vs. used saxophone for New Vs. Used Saxophone For Beginners

They are really good for people who have no previous musical experience and people who are more seasoned to play different instruments.

A big choice you need to make at the start naturally revolves around the type of saxophone you are going to get.

And when you are looking to buy a saxophone you often have the choice between a new or a used instrument.

Here is a quick look at the pros and cons of both options.

New Saxophone

Naturally many players suggest that you should go with a new saxophone to make the most out of your new hobby. Of course when you buy anything new it has a lot more appeal than if you buy something that has already been used before and therefore you might be more drawn to a new model.

When you buy a new saxophone you will know for sure what you are getting and that the saxophone is in a perfect working order. Often you also get a warranty when you buy a new saxophone making it a really safe choice.

But the downside for a new saxophone is generally most often the price. A new saxophone can end up costing almost ten times as much as you might pay for the same used version of the model. And saxophones aren’t the cheapest of instruments in the first place and so this might be a thing to turn you away from a new model.

Used Saxophone

What the above means is that one of the biggest positives for buying a used saxophone is the price. There are a lot of great used instruments out there that provide you great quality with an affordable price tag.

Some vintage saxophones are also a lot more enthralling to play and have the old natural tone that they produce. You can also find a lot of great used saxophones, even from the internet, making it quite easy to make proper findings.

At the same time it is often hard to really tell what the condition of the used saxophone is, especially if you aren’t able to test it out. There are also some unfortunate souls out there that want to trick you into buying something that isn’t as good quality as you’d like.

Decision Time

So the above tells us that there are a lot of pros and cons for buying both new and used saxophones. What it really all boils down to is your own price range and the ability to try out the instrument before you buy.

Look at websites that provide saxophone lessons and ask for advice. For example, the saxophone lessons at Pro Music Tutor can help you establish what are the key tone-related things you need to look for in a saxophone. There are also a lot of good guides like the one by Musician’s Friend and you should read it with care.

Picking the right saxophone is important and there is no way to know which instrument works for you until you try it out.

Sarah is in love with saxophone music and she could be listening to proper jazz all day long. She also likes to go to concerts all around the country and likes to travel to music festivals around the globe.

Creating New Traditions

Creating New Traditions

As temperatures begin their steady decent into winter and we fall back on our clocks, there is no mistaking that the holiday season will soon be upon us. While we all have our own traditions during this time of year, you may also want to consider creating some new traditions. Perhaps this holiday season will offer you an opportunity to mix the old with the new in order to create lasting memories. Some ideas you may want to consider are baking a new dish or holding your family meals in a new location. You may even think about taking a vacation to somewhere like the Wisconsin Dells Resorts.

creating new traditions Creating New Traditions

Expanding Your Kitchen

Every family has staples that are sure to be on the table whenever everyone is together whether it’s during the holidays or for another occasion. One way to create a new culinary tradition is adding your own spin on the traditional table spread. Perhaps you have taken to making homemade candy during 2013. There is no better way to show off your new skills to a captive audience then at a family gathering. You may even want to ask people out of the blue questions such as what is their favorite type of chocolate or if you have an older family member ask them about a candy they have not had in years. Use this information in your candy making selections and not only will the presentation look beautiful, but it will also be personalized.

Gather at a New Location

This new tradition can be especially helpful if there have been major events in the life of your family during this year. For instance, perhaps someone has married and moved into their own home. Maybe a family member has had a new little one or two and decided they need a bigger home to accommodate their own growing family. It may be a great year to allow someone else to host the holiday festivities.

If you would like the chance to carry on a long standing tradition of going to specific home for the day, you may want to let someone else host the meal and then have the traditional location host desert.  Just remember that whether you are holding the festivities at one or more locations make sure each involved is large enough to fit everyone comfortably.

Go on Vacation

The idea of going on vacation during the holiday season may seem a little strange since this time of year is primarily for family and friends. However, just because you may not be following your annual routine does not mean you can’t have time with them. Invite them! Perhaps you can go away for one holiday and follow traditions for another. There are a wide variety of locations you may choose to start this new tradition in. One you may want to consider especially if you have children or other family members that have already been missing the thrills of a waterpark is the Wisconsin Dells Resorts.

Whether you are traveling to a new location, expanding your culinary skills or someone else is going to host the festivities enjoy them! Don’t forget your camera to record and capture memories that are sure to last a lifetime.

First Time On The Road – 6 Mistakes That New Drivers Often Make

First Time On The Road – 6 Mistakes That New Drivers Often Make

Driving isn’t easy to a teenager who has just learned it. It’s different to drive with an instructor in the passenger’s seat who can give you directions when needed. Once you’re on the road by yourself, driving becomes more daunting, especially during those first few times. A newly licensed teenager on the road can encounter a number of road problems that a seasoned driver will find quite easy to solve. But a youngster could be overcome by nervousness or panic, and his inexperience in dealing with urgent situations might push him to commit mistakes that could undermine his safety and the safety of other drivers and pedestrians too.

first time road mistakes new First Time On The Road 6 Mistakes That New Drivers Often Make

So, what are the most common mistakes that young drivers commit? Here are some examples.

1. Speeding

Some kids will try to test the performance of their vehicles, which can be very dangerous because they are still too inexperienced to correctly assess when they should stop or slow down, depending on how fast they were going. A lot of youngsters do have risky driving behavior, and this can be due to peer pressure or their desire to impress someone. Therefore, parents should educate their children about the dangers of speeding and remind them that about 30% of fatal car crashes each year is due to speeding.

2. Overloading

Carrying too many passengers is very dangerous. Teens, however, have a habit of cramming too many individuals in a compartment that’s meant for just three to four people. An overloaded vehicle is harder to control, and it becomes more prone to tire blow-ups and braking problems.

3. Drunk Driving

Many teenagers today believe that they are invincible, and so they tempt fate by driving drunk or driving while under the influence of illegal substances. It’s important that kids are educated about the dangers of DUIs/DWIs. Not only will they harm themselves, but they could also injure or even kill others. In addition to the guilt of hurting other people, a teen caught drunk driving will face very real punishments, including incarceration. Click here to learn more about the legal ramifications of drunk driving.

4. Driving While Distracted

Today, drivers have too many distractions, from electronic gadgets to common things that they do in their cars instead of at home. For instance, some young females are in the habit of putting on their make up while driving, while males try to shave as they are also manning a vehicle. Texting, calling, emailing, and other activities aside from driving can take a person’s attention away from the road, which is a dangerous thing.

5. Judging Situations Incorrectly

Their inexperience, sometimes coupled with overconfidence, could get teens into serious trouble. They could make judgment calls that are inappropriate for the situation that they’re in. Poor judgment also includes — following another vehicle too closely, engaging in risky behavior, being unable to properly assess road and weather conditions, or using a new or unfamiliar path.

6. Reacting Unsuitably to Emergencies

Nothing is scarier than facing an imminent car collision. Experienced drivers might have a better chance of averting disastrous situations. On the other hand, a young driver will probably panic and forget what he’s supposed to do. Training a teenage driver about what to do in case of an emergency can help him in visualizing what he’s supposed to do during terrifying situations. Parents can also regularly talk to their kids about what they should do in case they find themselves in a dangerous position.

Health And Beauty Tips To A New And Improved YOU

Health And Beauty Tips To A New And Improved YOU

When a major change occurs in our life, women are known for wanting a change in their minds, bodies and spirits as well. When a bad breakup has just occurred or she landed her dream job in New York City, a change in life often is followed up with a change in appearance. We’re here to give you a variety of ways to make confidence-boosting changes, from beauty to fitness to dietary changes!

health beauty tips new improved Health And Beauty Tips To A New And Improved YOU

Beauty is only skin-deep, but confidence is so much more. Starting a clean slate, for whatever reason, can be accompanied by confidence-boosting techniques.

  • New haircut
For just being dead skin cells, protein and keratin, women certainly spend a lot of time maintaining hair. One small haircut can make you feel like a whole new person. Stopping by the hairdresser can mean more than cutting inches off your locks. Play with layers and bangs; see what works for you. Sometimes, the best haircuts come from letting your hairdresser do whatever they think looks best and getting surprised at the end!
  • New makeup routine
Makeup is almost too easy to become bored. We’re humans, and that means we just thrive off change, even if we think we hate it. Changing a makeup routine works best when you seek advice of a beauty consultant. Think of your face like a blank canvas when stripped of makeup, and allow the consultant to do some artwork. Consultations are usually free, and you get to try out new makeup products you may not have ever known existed!
  • Enhance your smile
You may have heard the saying “the happiest girls are the prettiest girls.” A bright, confident smile can do so much more for your appearance than many women think. Having a gorgeous smile means more than just brushing your teeth daily and having braces when your in your awkward preteen years. Have you considered what a teeth-whitening procedure can do for you? Maybe even porcelain veneers? If you have crooked, discolored or unappealing gaps in your teeth, a trained and skilled cosmetic dentist can do wonders for you. Luckily, many offices are willing to give free consultations to see which procedure is right for you.

Making changes or even small alternatives to your meals can have a great impact in the long run. This doesn’t mean going on a diet, which most people associate with hunger and boring dinners that consist of fruit and a piece of lettuce. You can make these changes without your taste pallet even recognizing much of a difference! For example, ordering a thin-crust pizza instead of the regular thick crust has about one third of the calories. Additionally, using brown rice instead of the bleached white gives you a high-fiber advantage, less calories consumed and a reduced risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Women’s Health Magazine and credible websites can give you suggestions for how to “healthify” your meals while still enjoying it.

The cliche suggestion of maintaining a regular workout routine will never go away. Beyond just losing weight for your dream summer body, regular exercise has an impact on your body and mind, such as…

  • Improved mood
  • Calming effects
  • Improves digestion
  • Speeds up metabolism
  • Improves skin complexion
  • Reduces stress
  • Better night’s rest
  • Increases work productivity

How To Find A New Hobby

How To Find A New Hobby

Many of us out there go about our daily lives minding our own business and never finding the time to do things we want to. There are so many wonderful past times out there that are just waiting to be explored yet work takes over. We are all driven by money and success in our job but in reality we are all on a downward spiral until the day we die.

how find new hobby How To Find A New Hobby

Fair enough having a good job carries some weight but you should also find the time to do those things that you enjoy. The internet is a recent phenomenon and learning online and even more recent addition to its catalogue.

This is a brilliant way to find a new hobby and you can even do it from the comfort of your office if you are that way inclined. This article will highlight where to look and what kind of hobbies are out there for you to enrich your life in conjunction with work.

Online Learning

Online learning is one of the best and most enriching hobbies you can sign up to. The beauty of it is the fact that you can learn from the comfort of your home. Ok, I know it sort of defeats the point of a hobby and getting away from work but when you see what is available your mind will soon change.

We live in the internet age and it was only a matter of time before great learning innovations were introduced. Nowadays you can learn languages online with a variety of companies, have guitar tutorials with Pro Music Tutor and that is just the beginning.

If you are serious about learning something new and finding a new hobby, you really don’t need to look any further than online. You can do pretty much anything, a lot of it is free and the stuff that you pay for is pretty cheap to boot.

For those who want something more active, dance is a great past time. There are so many different styles and levels so you will be able to find your range almost immediately. People are always constant moaning about being overweight or unfit so why not do something about it? Dance is in the main aimed at women but that doesn’t mean guys can’t get involved either.

It is a really fun and active form of exercise that can help you take your mind of the daily grind. Do your research online and see if there are any classes available near to where you live, I’m sure there will be.

Head to the gym, this is the hobby that most people decide on. While the first few weeks may be pretty grueling, your body will soon adapt and as you see the fat drop of you an addiction will form.

It is so easy to see why so many people are obsessed with the gym, it is a great way to clear the mind and cleanse the body at the same time.

Top Tips For Moving To A New Country

Top Tips For Moving To A New Country

Moving homes is considered one of the most stressful activities to undertake; moving to a different country altogether will only increase the risk of a negative experience. Most of us aren’t lucky enough to have a fully-functioning support system in place when we move away from the country of our birth. It requires some hard work to adapt to a new climate, job, social scene, laws, and even a language barrier!

top tips for moving new Top Tips For Moving To A New Country

One of the most important things you can do to lower stress levels during and after your move is to make sure that the whole thing is very well organised. Things will still go wrong, but if you have thought things through carefully, the chances are good that you’ll be able work around the problems with some ease.

Here are some ideas to consider:

  • Will you move with the contents of your home or sell everything and start over? Weigh up the costs and find out what you will be able to afford in your new country on your new salary. If you know you will only be staying temporarily, you might prefer renting a furnished home while your belongings are in storage at home (but this can be rather expensive).
  • Will you ship your car or sell it and buy a new one? If you are moving to Europe, it might not be helpful to take your enormous SUV that guzzles considerably more (expensive) fuel faster than the smaller fuel-efficient vehicles that are the norm there.
  • Find out what you need to do to get an international driver’s licence and start the process way in advance. The more you can do in advance, the less stressed you’ll feel when the inevitably overwhelming move arrives.
  • Find out what you need to do to get your visa/working permit ready. In some cases your prospective employer will do a lot of the paperwork for you, but in other cases you will have to do most of it yourself.  Either way, ensure you know what to do in advance. Sometimes you’ll need a document that you may have lost, like an unabridged birth certificate. Reapplying for these can take time and delay your visa application.
  • Find out whether you’ll need travel insurance or whether you’ll be covered for health emergencies by the government of the country you’re moving to. In England, you are allowed to make use of NHS services if you are a resident (have a resident’s visa), but in the US you will always be asked to pay for any hospitalisation.

Job hunt

If you know you want to move and are looking to find employment overseas, make sure you use reputable job sites. You can ensure an easier time of it by first finding out what skills are considered scarce in the country of your choice. Medical practitioners, artisans and IT specialists are among the most common. Ensure that the contact you make with your potential employer is legitimate – there are many scammers out there!

Culture shock

Culture shock is a phenomenon characterised by feelings of homesickness, depression, and negativity towards the culture, language, and customs of your adopted country. These feelings do eventually subside after some time, but you can make it considerably easier for yourself by doing a number of things. For example:

  • Take some language classes. Not only will you learn very valuable language skills, but you are also likely to get to know other foreigners who are as eager to make friends as you are.
  • If you have a favourite hobby or exercise, find a way to continue doing it in your new country. It will help you to feel grounded, and also help you make friends with some locals.
  • Get organised. It is okay to feel sad and lonely at times, but it is better not to indulge in it too much. Set reachable goals for yourself like getting a mobile phone, exploring a certain area of your city/town, and opening a bank account, etc. These small feats can lift your spirits immensely whilst improving your quality of life
  • If you know that you won’t adapt well in an environment where English is not spoken with ease, choose to work in a country like Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, or the United Kingdom, amongst others, where this won’t be a problem.

Before you leave, make sure you have certain friends and family who will be supportive and stay in touch with you. This will go a long way towards helping you cope during your first few months in a new environment.

Three Benefits Of Moving Your Business To A New Location

three benefits moving business new Three Benefits Of Moving Your Business To A New Location

Moving a business, no matter how large or small it is, isn’t easy to do, but sometimes it really is worth the time and effort that goes into moving a company from one location to another. Before making a move, you should analyse how your company has been doing. Has it been suffering as a result of overheads that are too expensive, for example? Or have you noticed that a lot of your customers are shopping elsewhere if your store isn’t located close enough to their homes? Once you figure out what has been going wrong within your organisation, you can determine if a move is really the best option.

Continue reading to learn about three ways that moving your business can actually benefit the entire organisation and help it succeed, despite how expensive moving can be.

Lower Your Expenses

three benefits moving business new1 Three Benefits Of Moving Your Business To A New Location

Moving to a better location can mean that you’ll also be able to cut down on your expenses. This is especially true if you have an office or retail space that charges high rental fees each month. If you can find a location that’s just as great, or even better, for your business, you can reduce the amount of money that you spend each month on rent.

You may also find that other locations have lower taxes, or that you can find a facility that will use up less energy, resulting in lower utility bills each month. The bottom line is that moving can dramatically reduce your overhead costs, and this can help you keep more money within your organisation, where it belongs.

A Better Space Overall

Perhaps your current location is too large or too small. Or perhaps it isn’t conducive to efficiently completing tasks because of a poor layout. Whether you need a more attractive space, a smaller space, or a larger space, moving can give your business exactly what it needs to increase efficiency and make both your customers and staff members feel comfortable. You may even be able to find a location that’s already designed in a style that will easily attract the types of customers you seek.

Follow Your Customers and Clients

three benefits moving business new3 Three Benefits Of Moving Your Business To A New Location

If your steady stream of customers and clients has left your area, you need to move with them. Otherwise, they’ll find competitors that are located closer to them who can provide them with the products or services they need. If you have found that you aren’t making as many sales as a result of your customers moving away, you should try your best to follow them and set up shop in a location where it will be more convenient for them to choose your company over the competition. The initial cost of hiring office movers will pay itself back in the form of higher profits from a larger customer base.

Moving your business can be difficult, but it definitely comes with its own set of benefits as well. If your old space is no longer serving you and is really holding your business back, it’s time to move.
