Gruyère Castle in Switzerland
The Gruyère castle, constructed in the 13th century, was home to a long succession of Gruyères counts. In 1938, the State of Fribourg bought the Castle and opened a museum there. Gruyères is a town in the district of Gruyère in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland and is an important touristic destination famous with its cheese. The Gruyère castle presents an interesting opportunity to find out about five centuries of history.
