There can’t be any greater feeling than coming home after a long day at work, stripping off, putting on your swimming costume, and then diving into the swimming pool that is located in your own backyard. Admittedly, owning a swimming pool is nothing more than a pipe dream for many, and something that is typically associated with the rich and famous. However, in the modern day and age, many households have completely transformed their backyards with the addition of an in-ground swimming pool… and without breaking the bank. Owning an in-ground swimming pool is now far more of a reality for most and you can have some great fun deciding on the type of pool and design that you want. This post will introduce you to the 3 types of in-ground pools that are available.
Concrete (Gunite) Pools
If you are looking at a particular type of design, or something a little out of the ordinary, then you’ll find that a concrete swimming pool will offer you the most flexibility. Concrete swimming pools can be built into whatever shape suits you, whether you are looking for a traditional design of pool, or whether you have a weird shaped backyard, and would like a swimming pool designed to fit in, without looking out of place. You will have the best opportunity to custom design your swimming pool by using the material, gunite, which should help to get those creative juices flowing. This type of swimming pool could take anywhere up to 3 months to build.
If cost is an issue for your in-ground swimming pool then you may be best off going with vinyl for material. Not only does this provide you with the least expensive option, vinyl pools will take far less work to build and install and are typically pre-engineered. With that being said, don’t believe that your choice will be limited, in terms of design, as there are literally dozens and dozens of pre-made vinyl swimming pool designs for you to choose from. You will find the classic swimming pool shape, as well as a pool that has numerous curves and other shapes, which are easy on the eye. You will also find that vinyl pools are far more durable than most people believe, and you’ll be pleased to hear that you could have a pool built and installed in approximately 3 weeks.
Fibreglass pools, much like their vinyl counterparts, will come in a pre-designed and pre-built shape. However, you will still have plenty of choice when it comes to style and shape. The surface of a fibreglass pool is also great at ensuring that algae won’t stick to it, thus meaning that it will be extremely easy to clean and maintain. Due to the fact that the pool will be pre-designed and built, installation could take as little as a week, although a more likely scenario would be 10 days to 3 weeks.
Owning an in-ground swimming pool in your backyard is something that many of use dream about. Admittedly, due to your location you may need to consider the weather, as you won’t have access to a retractable pool enclosure, although it would be great if someone would eventually design one just for backyard entertainment.
